Local Missions

Dothan Rescue Mission

Preparing and serving the evening meal at the local homeless shelter has long been an important outreach for us here at Covenant.  We are scheduled to cook and serve on the second Monday, Tuesday and Friday each month.  Would you consider helping?  WE know cooking for a large group (45-50 people on average) can seem overwhelming, but it is honestly a fun and meaningful way for friends to serve together!  We will be happy to give your team pointers on how to get started.

Embrace Alabama Kids

Embrace Alabama Kids, a Methodist Ministry, is a non-profit, faith-based organization dedicated to serving vulnerable children and families in crisis. One of the ways we support EAK is by hosting their parent training meeting on the second Monday each month. We prepare dinner for foster families and, after dinner, we do crafts, play games and do short bible lessons with the kids while the parents attend a training session. If you enjoy cooking or working with little people, we invite you to join us!

Faine Elementary

Did you know that 90% of the children at Faine Elementary qualify for free or reduced lunch?  That is why we are so passionate about our food bag ministry at Faine.  In the partnership with the Wiregrass Area Food Bank, we are able to provide supplemental food bags to Faine families on the third Thursday of each month.  You are invited to come with us!  Covenant is also looking to increase our presence at Faine Elementary this year by doing some fun and supportive things for the faculty and staff and by getting more involved in the classrooms.  Contact our Missions Coordinator to talk about how you can help!

The Harbor

The Harbor in downtown Dothan serves as a refuge for struggling people.  It is a place where those in need can find food, clothing, and even a hot shower but most importantly it is a place to find the transforming love of Jesus Christ.  It is a place where you can answer God’s call to love your neighbor.  We are happy to connect you or your small group with volunteering at The Harbor or join us on Saturday Morning Community Day when our church provides breakfast and volunteers for outreach.

His Helping Hands

You probably do not realize how many people from our community that come to Covenant in need of assistance. We do our best to assist our neighbors in need. Your contributions to CovMissions allows us to offer a helping hand in times of need.

Love in Action

We are honored to come alongside Ken and Martha Tuck as they lead Love in Action International Ministries downtown. From meal preparation and serving to helping with Love in Action’s food, clothing or hygiene pantries, there are so many ways you can help out.  Whether you are a prayer warrior or a back-room worker, there is a place for you to serve at Love in Action. Mark your calendar and join us on the third Saturday of each month. We meet at Love in Action (279 West Main Street) at 9am to pack food bags then we head out with Ken and Martha to a few low-income areas to bless folks with some groceries and to remind them that God loves them!

Meals on Wheels

At the core of Meals on Wheels is a nutritious meal, companionship and a watchful eye on the health and safety f local seniors and people with disabilities.  Helping is as easy as arriving at Wesley Manor at 10:45 am to pick up the meals and route information.  Most routes take about an hour to complete.  Contact us to be added to the delivery schedule.

Samaritan’s Clinic

Medical professionals looking to volunteer their services are always needed at Samaritan’s Clinic.  The clinic serves homeless, people on work release, and women referred from The House of Ruth every Thursday night from 4-7 pm.  Services include medical, dental and ophthalmology.  Medications are provided at no cost to patients thanks in part to CovMissions giving.
